Providing home-based palliative care for people affected by life-limiting illnesses is the new health service provided by Portimão’s Santa Casa da Misericórdia (SCMP) charity.
SCMP has announced it will be investing an extra €50,000 per year to provide domiciliary palliative care to both patients treated by the charity as well as by Portimão Hospital.
“A decade after having created our continuing care unit, the time has come to seek out new challenges and offer new solutions to people who come to us for health care,” the Santa Casa said in an official statement.
At first, the goal is to offer the service to a maximum of 10 patients.
