Portimão’s ‘Rota do Petisco’ starts Friday

Starting tomorrow (Friday, September 9), the hugely popular “Rota do Petisco” returns to the gastronomic scene of Portimão, Alvor and Praia da Rocha.
It is a chance for people to enjoy ‘tapas’ at extremely affordable prices, and brings even more custom to local bars and restaurants.
This year 125 businesses are taking part. To check the ‘route’ see www.rotadopetisco.com
This is the fifth year running for the initiative, which has been taken up by Lagos, Lagoa, Silves and even Aljezur – all of which hosted their own ‘Rotas’ earlier this season.
The format, however, remains the same throughout: people buy a ‘passport’ which acts as the guide to all venues, and their particular menus.
Savoury menus are all sold for €3 with a drink, while sweet ones are €2.
This year’s novelty is ‘Rota do Mundo’ – a smaller version of the usual route offering Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Dutch and even specialties from Cape Verde.
Portimão market is also coming in on the scheme, selling fresh produce for €3, while there will also be a ‘Rota do Comércio’ offered by shopkeepers, giving 40% discounts in a number of local outlets.
Bars too have come on board with the ‘Rota Noite Adentro’, which runs from 11pm to 1am and allows drinkers two drinks for the price of one!
In other words, there really is something for everyone this year – and the event runs till Sunday October 9.
