Portimão council has announced that renovation work to the town’s busy riverside avenue Avenida Afonso Henriques is “moving along nicely”.
The €925,000 project, which involves replacing the entirety of the avenue’s ‘calçada’ (cobblestone) pavement with asphalt, has moved into a new stage. Traffic has been cut off on the road linking Rua Gonçalo Nascimento and the roundabout featuring a sculpture depicting fish factory workers, near the Clube Naval de Portimão.
The work is due to be completed before the end of the year.
