Portimão welcomes more than 4,000 visitors

Portimão has gained more than 4,000 visitors by sea as various tour operators dock at the port.

With a prominent position between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, Portimão port has seen a 23% growth in cruise visits this year.

Already featuring a main route to Funchal aboard the Volcán de Tijarafe every Sunday, in the past week there have been visits by the Windstar on November 25, Amadea on November 27, Maasdam on November 28 and Black Watch on November 29.

The five star Sea Cloud, a four-masted vessel carrying 69 passengers, was due to dock on December 1 and 2 before continuing to its final destination in the Caribbean.

Modernisation of Portimão port continues with an extension of the quay and dredging to accommodate the larger ships, acquisition of a tug boat to assist navigation and plans to construct a modern passenger terminal.
