Portimão Council is turning off its parking metres in several parts of the town in order to increase the number of free parking spaces.
The decision will be valid for 30 days, after which the council will decide whether to maintain it or scrap it.
Buses belonging to the local Vai e Vem bus network have also seen their capacity cut by half in order to reduce the number of people using this form of transportation.
