Portimão to host open-air film screenings

All movie screenings are free

This weekend marks the start of ‘Cinema ao Luar’ (Cinema by Moonlight), a series of open-air film screenings taking place on July 14 and 15 at Portimão’s Alameda square, known officially as Praça da República, and on July 28 and 29 at the Portimão Parish Council courtyard.

Among the films screened will be The Right Juice, the Algarve’s first English language full-length feature film, and That Good Night, a film that was shot mostly in Loulé and features Sir John Hurt in his last starring role.

Organised by the Portimão Parish Council in partnership with Berliner Production House, the event will begin at 9pm on each day, featuring the screening of two films, one feature-length and one short film. Admission is free.

Friday, July 14:

  • 9pm: Floaters
  • 9.45pm: The Right Juice

Saturday, July 15:

  • 9pm: Benny
  • 9.30pm: That Good Night

Friday, July 28:

  • 9pm: Noiva
  • 20pm: Deus

Saturday, July 29:

  • 9pm: Pê
  • 45pm: O Último Banho
