Portimão Council is purchasing 250,000 masks to be distributed among the local population as a “preventive measure against the Covid-19 pandemic”.
The decision was announced by Mayor Isilda Gomes during a civil protection meeting on Wednesday.
The council will explain, “in due time”, how citizens will have access to the masks, which will include “an instruction manual”.
“Citizens should continue self-isolating even after receiving their masks,” says the council.
Portimão has not registered a new coronavirus case in over five days.
