Portimão Council has unanimously approved a proposal to purchase a set of rundown houses which it plans to demolish to make way for a new road linking Largo do Dique and Rua Júdice Biker in the town’s busy riverside area.
Says the council, the goal is to improve the flow of traffic in the area and create a new entry and exit route in Portimão.
Around €700,000 will be invested to purchase the properties, which will be demolished to open up a new path between the two roads.
The proposal will still need to be approved by the municipal assembly of Portimão, the council says.
