Portimão council is supporting 66 local associations with around €420,000-worth of funding. Mayoress Isilda Gomes and association bosses put pen to paper last Friday (May 5). Gomes said she was very proud of them for keeping the town “moving” for three-and-a-half years without any financial aid from the council. But now that the borough’s finances have improved, the council is able to support them monetarily once more.
