A temporary shelter has been set up in Portimão to provide a safe and warm place for homeless and vulnerable people to spend the night.
Located just a stone’s throw away from the São Camilo Hospital, the shelter will be open every day from 8pm to 9am, but those in need will need to arrive before 10pm.
The shelter was created by the local council alongside the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Portimão and is the latest in a series of measures that have been carried out in recent years to identify and help people in need in the borough, says the council.
Citizens are also encouraged to call the 24-hour municipal civil protection hotline ‘Proteção 24’ (808 282 112) to “report risky situations or cases of people who are homeless and could need help”.
