Portimão, São Brás and Tavira museums reopen on Monday

Museums in Portimão, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira will reopen on Monday (April 18), International Museum Day, after closing in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Little by little throughout the coming weeks, all museums will be resuming their activities,” says the Algarve Museum Network (RMA) in a statement to the press.

However, in Tavira, the reopening of the museum is described as still “pending approval”.

Meantime, the Centre of Investigation and Heritage of Cacela (CIPPC) will be reopening in Santa Rita, Cacela tomorrow (May 15), while the Tavira Living Science Centre is set to return on May 26.

The municipal museums of Faro, Olhão and Loulé, the regional museum of the Algarve and Casa João Lúcio in Olhão will be reopening as well, says RMA, with the dates to be announced soon.

Readers may recall that the region’s museums started offering virtual activities last month that anyone can enjoy without leaving their home (click here).
