Portimão council has announced plans to replace the trees on Avenida 25 de Abril, Rua de Cabo Verde and Rua das Oliveiraas for magnolias.
“While we are aware that many of these trees have been there for over 30 years, removing them has become inevitable as they are old and sick,” the council said in a statement.
The removals are expected to be carried out in the next few weeks.
