Portimão race track to get hotel

THE ALGARVE Motor Park, where the Portimão race track is under construction, is to be the site of the first Radisson five star hotel in Portugal.

The luxury complex will have 192 rooms, two restaurants, a bar, swimming pools, tennis courts and a spa.

The hotel will also have extensive conference facilities in anticipation of a growing demand from, in particular, the auto industry cluster that is expected to arrive after the opening of the race track at the end of the year.

The deal signed with Algarve Motor Park gives the hotel group a 20-year concession for the management of the hotel. This also includes the Radisson Residence Portimão, a development of 160 luxury apartments to be built in the perimeter of the park.

According to Paulo Pinheiro, the CEO of Parkalgar, the company developing the race track, the new resort will complement the technological park and the race track.

The Radisson hotel brand is managed by Rezidor Hotel Group, the European subsidiary of the Carlson Hotels Worldwide, owner of brands such as Regent, Park Plaza, Country Inns and Park Inn and the Radisson. The group is one of the five biggest in the world, with 62,000 rooms in 300 hotels in 50 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
