Portimão is due to receive six cruise ships between now and May 26, carrying more than 4,000 passengers and almost 1,800 crew members.
These stops reinforce the position of Portimão port, which is now considered to be the third most important in mainland Portugal after Lisbon and Leixões.
On Wednesday this week, the Ryndam from the Holland America Line company with 1,613 passengers and 618 crew members stopped in Portimão. Port managers expected it to return in August.
Yesterday (Thursday) saw the Seabourn Pride from the Seabourn Cruise Line, carrying 212 tourists and a crew of 160 members.
Today (Friday) the Silver Cloud from Silversea Cruises will pass through Portimão, carrying 296 passengers and 210 crew members, and tomorrow (Saturday) the Vistamar from Plantours company is due to visit, with 299 tourists and 110 crew members.
On May 24 it is the turn of the Grand Voyager from Ibero Cruceros, carrying 840 passengers and 360 crew members, while on May 26 the Albatros from Phoenix Reisen is expected with 884 cruise visitors and 340 crew members.
According to a spokesman from Portimão Câmara, the number of cruise stops this year will increase by 23% compared with last year, with a total of 64 visits by the end of November.
