German artist Kerstin Wagner is inaugurating a new painting exhibition entitled ‘Agosto Azul’ (Blue August) which will be on display at Portimão museum between Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 27.
The works are inspired by the “tonalities and chromatic vibrations of the sea and light of the Algarve,” where she spends part of the year.
Wagner tries to juxtapose “movement and calm, chaos and harmony and darkness and light” in her paintings, which are also inspired by the book by the same name released in 1904 by local writer and Portuguese president Manuel Teixeira Gomes.
The exhibition opens at 6pm on Saturday, August 5.
Kerstin Wagner was born near Cologne. From 1984 to 1989 she studied Painting at the Alanus Art Academy in Bonn-Alfter. Since then she has became member of the International Association of Art. Up to now her work has been shown at many exhibitions, mainly in Portugal and Germany.
