Portimão market celebrates five years

As it celebrates its fifth anniversary on December 11 since it moved to Avenida S. João de Deus, the Portimão market has put together a special programme of celebrations that ties in with the Christmas season.

Until December 19, for every €10 spent, customers at the market and surrounding shops and snack bars can take part in the Christmas Raffle in order to win one of 20 prizes available. The winners will be announced at 11am on December 20.

There will also be cooking demonstrations courtesy of local chef Guram, who, from 10am on December 11 and 18, will prepare traditional dishes using fresh produce and offer various cooking tips.

Between December 12 and 15, the Feira do Mel sees producers sell honey and its by-products, and on December 15, members of the Portimão Motorcycle Club will be dressing up as Santa before setting off from the market to the Lar Bom Samaritano and Catraia children’s homes to hand out presents.

With a number of activities available for children, the little ones can also help decorate the market’s Christmas tree, whilst on December 18, the market will receive a special visit from characters from The Magical Adventure show from the Cardinali company.
