Portimão invests €26,000 in flood prevention

At a time when heavy rain has been causing serious floods across the Algarve, Portimão Council has invested in flood prevention.

Around €26,000 has gone into helping the local ‘sapadores’ forest rangers clear vegetation in streams and other waterways which have a history of building up water when it rains.

Hopes are that the initiative will help reduce the water build-up which often leads to floods.
