Portimão hosts world snooker grand final

The Pavilhão Arena in Portimão is hosting the World Series of Snooker from May 8 to 10, bringing world class snooker players to the region as part of one of the Allgarve events this year.

Top ranking players, including Stephen McGuire, Mark Selby, Graham Dott and Jimmy White among others, will all be present for the final, which is due to receive worldwide coverage from Eurosport.

Organisers of the event believe that this will be the “pinnacle of a fantastic tournament” that has seen competitors play to packed houses across the world.

Five thousand live spectators and 22.5 million global viewers are expected to watch the final in Portimão.

The first round will start at midday on May 8, with all players competing against each other once, before the winners and runners up progress to the second round which will start at 7pm.

The quarter finals will be played the following day, with the afternoon session starting at 1pm and the evening session starting at 7pm. From 1pm on Sunday, the semi-finals will run all afternoon before the final match, which is due to start at 7pm.

Tickets for the competition are now on sale and range in price from 10 euros to 200 euros for a three-day event ticket.
