It’s the oldest fair in Portimão’s history and characterised by piping hot chestnuts in dinky paper cones. The 353rd Feira de São Martinho starts on Friday at Portimão’s exhibition centre, carrying through to the following Saturday (November 15) and including all kinds of stalls and local delicacies. If chestnuts aren’t your thing, there will be “bifanas” (pork sandwiches), pão com chouriço (delicious!) and candy floss, as well as fairground rides and activities. Gates open every day from 4pm (10am on Saturday and Sunday).
