A charity walk designed to provide a “happier Christmas” for people supported by Portimão-based association Grato will be held in the town’s riverside area on Saturday, December 5.
Those interested in taking part are asked to donate either “winter clothes or non-perishable food”, which will allow organisers to put together a Christmas hamper for Grato, an association that provides support to the “underprivileged and socially excluded”.
The event begins at 9am at Portimão docks, where donations will be gathered by volunteers. The walk will begin an hour later, including stops at the naval club, museum and marina, and then back to the port.
Capoeira, Jiu Jitsu and Cross Training demonstrations will be held after the walk at 11am. A healthy snack will be offered as well.
The event is organised by biological grocers Mercearia Bio and sports association Cross Arade.
In a statement, the two businesses said they want to use their “resources to provide a more comfortable festive season for those who are most in need”.
The event is also supported by Portimão council, the Sines and Algarve port administration and Portimão Marina.
