Around 60,000 people are expected this weekend at the Superbike World Championship races that will take place at the Portimão racetrack (officially known as the Algarve International Circuit) between Friday, September 6 and Sunday, September 8.
Bringing some of the world’s best riders to the Algarve, the championship is one of the world’s main motorsport road racing series and has organised races in the region since 2008, except 2016.
“The Algarve International Circuit made its first appearance on the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship back in 2008 and since then has provided the WorldSBK championship with plenty of memories, from agonising heartache, feisty duels, inclement weather, to history-making winners and goodbyes,” the organisers write on the championship’s official website.
This year, riders will be looking to finally beat Jonathan Rea, who not only leads the championship with an 81-point lead over Álvaro Bautista but also has not lost a race in Portimão since 2015.
Only around 1,000 paddock tickets remain, so act quickly if you still want to secure your spot at the event. For more information, contact the racetrack or visit its website.
