Portimão: EN125 chaos

Dear Editor,

I’m sure I’m among the many people who are at their wit’s end with the roadworks that have been taking place on the EN125 road near Portimão.

Not because we don’t think the work should be carried out, but because there is no viable alternative to the EN125 in that area.

To avoid the 125, you can either take a detour through Portimão – which will take forever at rush hour in the morning and late afternoon – or the A22 highway – which will see you coughing up quite a bit of money at the end of the month.

Otherwise, you’re bound to end up stuck in a traffic jam for at least half an hour if you choose to stay on the 125.

Surely, the people in charge of the roadworks could find some better way to avoid the way bottlenecks have been forming on the road – do most of the work in the early hours of the morning or late at night. Another solution would be temporarily taking away the tolls from the A22, although we all know that will never happen!

The only saving grace is that at least they waited until summer was over to start the work. I can only imagine how bad it would be in August…
