Portimão Council has delivered six “high-end” Dräger V600 ventilators to the local public hospital, described as the first of their kind in Portugal.
Recently, the council had also delivered a Pulmovista – a device, costing over €50,000 that helps determine what sort of pulmonary treatment is most adequate for each patient – to the local hospital as part of a €350,000 investment to purchase 24 ventilators and other essential equipment to make sure the hospital is equipped to treat Covid-19 patients.
Also purchased were 12 syringes and 12 infusion pumps, which are considered “indispensable tools” to support patients in critical condition.
The money was originally going to be spent in a powerboat sports event in Portimão, which was cancelled due to the pandemic.
