Portimão will be celebrating its ‘Dia da Cidade’ (City Day) with a number of events and activities between December 4 and 12 – most notably, the reopening of the town’s Pavilhão Gimnodesportivo sports complex after five years of delays. The venue will be used to honour the municipality’s best performing athletes of the year on Tuesday (December 8). The Gimnodesportivo will only officially reopen “in the beginning of 2016,” however, as it still lacks sporting equipment. Friday, December 11 is a bank holiday in Portimão.
