Major events kick off summer season
Two major events are expected to attract thousands of revellers this weekend to Portimão and Carvoeiro.
Up first is Secret Project, an American festival featuring some of the most renowned dance music artists in the world, which will be held for the first time at Portimão’s Praia da Rocha beach between Friday and Sunday (June 17-19).
Say organisers, “a vast array of heavy-hitters and globally renowned DJs from the dance music world, with techno titans like Adam Beyer, Charlotte de Witte, Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin and Maceo Plex populating the poster alongside a wealth of drum and bass superstars: Chase & Status, Andy C, Shy FX, Sub Focus, and Dillinja to name just a few.”
Tickets are still available and range from €69.50 for a single-day pass to €189 for a three-day pass and €229 for a three-day VIP pass.
The artists will be performing on the sands of Praia da Rocha across three stages, from 4pm until late every day.
Meanwhile, the Carvoeiro Black and White Night party is returning on Saturday (June 18) from 8.30pm and 3am after being cancelled for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Known as the event that marks the start of the Algarve’s summer agenda, the party is expecting to attract over 30,000 people to the small town’s streets.
Live music, DJ sets and street entertainment are aplenty during the event, which begins at 8.30pm and runs late into the night.
Visitors are highly encouraged to dress in black and white in line with the town’s streets which are also stylishly decorated.
To avoid large bottlenecks and parking issues near the small town, Lagoa Council is calling on revellers to use the free bus linking Carvoeiro to parking areas near Fatacil, Apolónia, Aldi, Intermarché and Gramital (car park near Aldi) between 6pm and 4am.
“After the great success of the Lagoa Wine Show, which took place last weekend, we are truly committed to making this edition of Carvoeiro Black & White the best ever,” said Lagoa Mayor Luís Encarnação.
“We expect large crowds and are working arduously so that everyone has fun with the arrival of summer 2022,” he added.
