Following the success of a similar festival in Lagos, Portimão is to hold its first Street Food Festival from July 23 to August 2 at Alameda da Praça da República.
Organised by Portugal’s Street Food Association, the festival will feature everything from hot-dog stands to trucks selling roast suckling pig sandwiches, pizzas, wraps and all kinds of more exotic delicacies.
Says Portimão council, “street food is a concept that is becoming increasingly popular in Europe and has been very well received in Portugal”.
As many as 20 street food companies have been confirmed for the event, including Rock N’Doll Caffe, Copenhagen Lab, Dolce Gelato, Kono Pizza, Vespa Gourmet, Fiesta Mexicana, Caipijocas, Legend, Ginja D’Óbidos, Iogurteria do Bairro, Frua, Walkamole, Tachadinha XXL, Vai à Fava, Mister Pig, Churraria Carlitos, Vegetal Real and 100% Saboroso.
The festival is free and will run between 6pm and 1am every day.
