Popular English-language authors to attend Lit.ALGARVE

Final preparations for the first Lit.ALGARVE festival are now underway and as the list of participants increases, so too do the number of English-language authors who will be taking part in the festival between September 16 and 19.

More than 10 English-language authors based in Ireland, Britain and Portugal have been confirmed, including some very well-known names from the literary world.

Irish author Peter Cunningham is well known for his acclaimed Monument Novels set in Ireland in the 19th century, which have drawn critical acclaim for his representation of the Irish people at this time in history.

More recently he has been promoting his newly launched book Capital Sins, a novel about the collapse of the Celtic Tiger economy in Ireland.

Peter will be taking part in a book-signing session at the Holiday Inn Algarve in Armação de Pêra on September 18 from 5pm, while he will also be in Tavira at 7pm.

For those who want to learn the secrets behind a successful author, crime writer Robert Wilson, who writes his books from his home in the Alentejo, will also be making an appearance.

Robert will be taking part in a debate, The Secret of Success, to be held at the Sítio das Fontes in Estômbar from 7.30pm on September 17.

Meanwhile, English author Jill Fraser will be on hand to discuss her latest comedy novel, More Tea Less Vicar, during a meal to be held at the Holiday Inn Algarve from 7.30pm.

Organiser of  Lit.ALGARVE Barbara Fellgiebel told the Algarve Resident: “Everyone taking part is so enthusiastic and with so many different authors involved there will be something for everyone to enjoy.”
