Books for all literary tastes and pockets will be up for sale at this year’s edition of Portimão’s annual book fair, which opens today (July 25) at the old fishing market in the town’s riverside.
The fair will run until August 24 from 7pm to midnight, selling both new and second-hand books with an average of 20% below retail price.
Books for sale will be in many languages, including English.
Last year the fair was visited by nearly 100,000 people who purchased approximately 50,000 books, making Portimão’s fair the third biggest in the country after Lisbon and Porto.
The event is organised by the local council in collaboration with Livraria Algarve and Livraria Elifalma book shops.
