The Algarve Junior Christmas Choir has been formed by former pop star Heavenli Denton, with a special Christmas performance planned for December 19.
The first rehearsal took place on November 23, with a second rehearsal taking place tomorrow (Saturday) at Fitbods studio in Almancil from 3pm to 5pm.
Further rehearsals will take place on Mondays, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, and on Saturdays from 3pm to 5pm each week leading up to the performance on December 19.
Children will sing contemporary and traditional Christmas songs while being able to develop their performance skills and to increase their confidence levels.
Heavenli has vast experience of the music industry as she was part of the pop group Honeyz who had hits in the UK charts in the late nineties.
After falling in love with the Algarve in the summer of 2008, Heavenli moved here with her husband James, who teaches at the Vilamoura International School, and her three children on October 31.
“The idea behind organising the Algarve Junior Christmas Choir was a way to get to know local people, children, Mums and Dads who may be interested in singing and performing. Hopefully, it will provide me with an opportunity to pass on my singing experience to the children living here,” Heavenli told Algarve Resident.
For children aged six to 13 to take part in the rehearsals, there will be a cost of four euros for the rehearsals on Monday and six euros for the rehearsal on Saturdays.
