More than 20 children took part in the Pinetrees spring gymkhana held on April 11 at the Pinetrees Riding Centre near Almancil.
The young riders showed off their riding skills to visiting judge Pedro Ferro before taking part in competitions which saw six year old Angus McGough win first prize on Welsh pony Eclipse in the leading rein class, Franciska Hoffmann on Mara winning in the off the rein competition and Alice Gonçalves on Segredo winning the third competition for more experienced riders.
Meanwhile, eight year old Lucy Shaw, who was on holiday in the Algarve when she took part in the competition, won a commemorative 25th anniversary rosette for riding off the rein for the first time.
Other events on the day included musical chairs on horseback, invisible jumps and cross bar jumping, with monies raised on the day being donated to Riding for the Disabled in the Algarve.
Pinetrees Riding Centre is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and has many events planned.
