The reputation of politicians and the government could not be worse, says an opinion poll on the eve of presidential elections.
The Portuguese will decide on Sunday, January 23, who will be the next President of the Republic.
A poll conducted by the consulting company Gfk shows that lack of trust is widespread. Results were achieved from the answers of 1,002 Portuguese aged between 18 and 64.
The vast majority of respondents said that Portugal is heading in the wrong direction and that the country was better 25 to 40 years ago.
According to the study, 94% of the Portuguese say they do not trust the political classes, 90% the governments, 89% political parties and 84% the National Assembly. Some 70% also said they had a lack confidence in the courts, public administration and the unions.
