A strategic programme for the redevelopment and protection of the Ria Formosa nature reserve is due to come to an end in December 2012, however the entity in charge has requested an extension of the deadline due to unfinished works.
The Sociedade Polis Ria Formosa says the “technical complexity” of some of the projects has led to some delays and asked the government to extend the deadline for completion of the works until July 2014.
The Polis plan is co-financed by the State (€14 million), Faro, Olhão, Loulé and Tavira câmaras and EU funding, and represents an investment of more than €87 million.
