PSP police are to be armed with pepper spray, tasers and other non-lethal forms of protection due to the rising number of incidents in which felons have used extreme violence against authorities, namely knives and guns. An internal memo signed by PSP national director Manuel Magina da Silva suggests the purchase of non-lethal protection/ armaments is going ahead “with all speed possible”.
