AROUND 3,000 police officers took to the streets of Lisbon on Monday to protest against poor working conditions and the loss of perks, in terms of medical care, career promotions and pensions, among other factors.
They marched to Parque das Nações, near to where justice ministers and home secretaries from the 27 EU Member States were holding a meeting.
Police officers from Denmark, Greece, Scotland Spain and Slovakia among other countries joined the protest in Lisbon and as a demonstration of solidarity, police officers in Dusseldorf, Germany held a simultaneous protest outside the Portuguese embassy.
