A party attended by over 20 people in Vilamoura was shut down by GNR police on Friday night (January 29).
Authorities were alerted to the illegal gathering at around 10pm, the police force said in a statement to the press.
“As they arrived at the residence, officers said the noise of music coming from inside the house was perfectly audible and that there were several cars parked outside,” it added.
The owner of the house was contacted and the party shut down.
Everyone who attended was identified and handed notices for failing to follow lockdown rules and for the “crime of propagation of disease”.
This is just one of several illegal parties that have been broken up since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in Portugal. One of these illegal gatherings in Odiáxere (Lagos) last June was later linked to 111 positive cases (click here).
