Police retrace final steps of Norwegian man found dead in Pêra

PJ police are retracing the last steps of the 70-year-old Norwegian man who was found dead in an apartment in Pêra, Silves in the early hours of Monday morning.

This is what authorities know so far. The victim, named in the press only as Ernest, is believed to have been out drinking that night. He was eventually refused any more alcoholic beverages and was later taken to Albufeira’s A&E service due to his state of “intoxication”.

Says national tabloid Correio da Manhã, he took a taxi home after receiving medical care at the service.

PJ inspectors have spoken to the taxi driver and are now trying to figure out what happened after the victim was dropped off.

A trail of blood was found on the street leading to Urbanização das Fontainhas and at the entrance of the building, and the big question is whether the man was attacked or if he suffered a violent fall which caused serious injuries.

Investigators are still awaiting results of the autopsy to determine the nature of the injuries.

The victim was apparently staying at the apartment of a friend, who was the one who found him bloodied.

Says CM, the victim once lived in the Algarve but this time was simply visiting his friend.
