Police rescue five-year-old caught up in high-speed drug shoot-out in Águeda

Águeda || A terrified five-year-old and scores of householders lived through moments of sheer panic as drug dealers fought it out at high speed through the streets of Águeda in the early hours of Sunday morning.
As three men along with the child are now being sheltered by friends – too frightened to return home – police are reported to be searching for the shooters.
The nightmare began just after midnight when the BMW in which the men and the child were travelling began being chased through the streets by three other cars.
“The car was hit by various bullets, but there were no injuries,” reports Correio da Manhã.
A terrified householder told the paper: “We saw the BMW approach the junction and then three other cars approached and barred its way.
“There was a discussion and then some of the men pulled out guns and started shooting – but the men picked up the boy and managed to get away.”
The three cars then pursued the BMW through the streets, where “various people had to throw themselves to the floor for fear of being shot”.
The car finally screeched to a halt at the local GNR police station, and it was here that officers rushed in and grabbed the little boy.
According to CM, the men and child remained at the station for several hours before being “hidden away in the homes of friends”.
The victims told police that they knew who the shooters were but would not give details as to why they were shooting.
CM claimed “the business of drugs” was the reason for the incident.
