More than a hundred officers from Portugal’s security forces and services were gathered in front of Belém Palace in Lisbon today as Pope Francis was received by President Marcelo.“We are here not only to pass the message to the government, because the government already knows what our message is, but to pass the message to the people and the world since this is a world event: that the police do their job, […] but it is not on account of what successive governments have provided us, both in terms of salaries and conditions,” said César Nogueira, secretary general of the Permanent Coordinating Committee of Unions and Associations of Professionals of the Security Forces and Services (CCP).
