Three men were arrested by the GNR police last week due to illegal cultivation and sale of drugs in the Algarve.
One of them, a 63-year-old man, was caught red-handed in São Brás de Alportel while watering his cannabis plantation. Police confiscated 15 cannabis plants and 117 grammes of cannabis seeds, 108 of which were crushed and ready for consumption.
Another man, aged 45, was detained after police found a cannabis plantation near the suspect’s house during a routine patrol through the Monchique woods. The GNR team seized 16 cannabis plants as a result of their searches.
Two weeks ago, the authorities had already detained a father and son who were also involved in the trafficking business.
The third drug dealer, also a 45-year-old man, was arrested on September 5 after police detected a cannabis plantation in the Guenos area, in the northern region of the municipality of Portimão. Thirteen plants were confiscated.
The authorities revealed that it was the third drug bust last week in Portimão.
All three men were due to appear before a court in their respective municipalities.
