A COURT case involving 28 arguidos, including 16 members of the PSP police caught in March 2006 over illegal arms and corruption, began at the Boa-Horta court in Lisbon on Tuesday.
Three of the members of the PSP, two men and one woman are on trial for active corruption. The other 13 PSP members are charged with passive corruption, while the remaining 12 arguidos are on trial for the possession and sale of firearms.
Orlando Romano, director of the PSP said that this case was the most serious so far in the history of the PSP.
