PSP police are hot on the trail of an unidentified suspect who ran over a couple – killing the man – and fled the scene in the early hours of New Year’s Day in Portalegre.
According to a PSP source, the man, 42, was killed in the hit-and-run incident while the woman, 36, escaped with minor injuries.
Following up on witnesses’ reports, the police authorities are confident they have gathered enough information that will allow them to identify the vehicle and bring them closer to finding the culprit.
The incident took place on the George Robinson Avenue just after 5am, when New Year’s celebrations were being held at a local nightclub and in the grounds of the municipal market.
