GNR police are on alert due to a spree of suspicious fires which broke out at night in rural areas of Portimão last week.
The first blaze broke out on Sunday, May 26 in Vidigal Novo, Mexilhoeira Grande at around 3.39am.
Another fire started near a road in Rasmalho the next night at around the same time.
Then, a third fire broke out on Tuesday night in rubbish bins near the side of the road in the rural area of Poio.
Luckily the fires were quickly tackled which prevented them from spreading, Portimão fire commander Richard Marques told Correio da Manhã tabloid, adding that all three fires started in rural areas where the fire risk is high.
