Police officers could face disciplinary action

Off-duty police officers protesting against government measures in front of the parliament building on November 21 last year could be “identified” for their “inappropriate conduct”.
According to Expresso newspaper, the Inspector-General of Internal Affairs (IGAI) also believes that the two officers in charge of policing operations at the demonstration did little to stop dozens of protestors from invading the parliament steps, breaking through police barriers.
Minister of Internal Affairs, Miguel Macedo, has been handed a preliminary report by the IGAI regarding the incidents on the day of the protest, suggesting that the officers in charge of operations should be the subject of disciplinary action for not having done enough to prevent the “invasion”.
