Police Inspector absolved of murder charge

PJ police are in shock this week after a female inspector, charged with the murder of her 80-year-old mother-in-law in Coimbra in 2012, was absolved by judges and released to return to work. The Porto judges said they considered the probability that Ana Saltão had shot Filomena Gonçalves 14 times was “very reduced”, but that at the same time they could not conclude “with certainty” that she was innocent.
