Police detain man suspected of killing sister and father

A man suspected of killing his pregnant sister and his father in Torres Vedras, 55 km north of Lisbon, over the weekend, was detained on Monday morning, a source from Portugal’s police force told Lusa news agency.

According to the source, the suspect was detained in Lisbon suburb Amadora and handed over to the judicial police, which is investigating the crime.

The pregnant woman and man were found dead on Saturday inside a home in Santa Cruz, in Torres Vedras, Lisbon.

The man killed owned a fishmongers shop, which was closed, and customers thought it was strange that no one in his home was answering, the chief fireman of Torres Vedras, Fernando Barão, told Lusa.

Locals alerted the firefighters and authorities when after breaking down the door, they found the man, aged from 50 to 60, and the 37-year-old woman dead at home.
