Police collar Tavira’s alleged runaway drug dealer in Aveiro

PJ criminal police have arrested a 47-year-old man allegedly linked to the two-tonne shipment of hashish seized from a boat in Tavira in February.

Five men were arrested shortly after the drug bust (click here), but PJ police “knew another was on the run”.

The man was finally arrested in Aveiro, central Portugal, on Thursday afternoon (March 31).

Says the PJ, all involved are believed to be part of a national network.

The drugs seized in Tavira were shipped in on a boat crewed by three men and left inside a parked truck on the banks of the Gilão River.

The plan was likely to smuggle the drugs into Spain, said the PJ.
