Sinapol, the national syndicate of police, have announced a protest camp to be set up alongside the Ministry of Internal Administration in Lisbon during the first week of August, when the capital will be hosting World Youth Day – the largest event on the calendar of the Catholic Church to which Pope Francis is expected. The syndicate will also be protesting at the airports of Lisbon and Porto from July 31 to August 6, as they claim there has been “an absence of response” by the government to their various wage/ work related demands.
