Police and rescue service scramble to rescue four-legged ‘girl’

Police, firemen and INEM rescue services raced to the scene after a panic phone call from a woman appealing for help for her “girl” who she had found hanging from the neck. But when they arrived at the house in the Alvão hills, Vila Real, they found that the “girl” was none other than one of the many dogs of a 42-year-old woman with psychiatric problems.
“I never said anything about a child,” Cristina Lima told Correio da Manhã. “I said my girl was hanging. I was in panic.”
The three-year-old little dog did not survive.
Lima used to live in Rio Tinto (Gondômar) but had been forced to move as neighbours were not comfortable with her band of four-legged friends.
