PM wants South Korean semiconductor factory in Portugal

Portugal’s prime minister António Costa has said today that one of the goals of his visit to South Korea is to attract investment from South Korean multinationals for European semiconductor production. “There is a need to diversify the production chains of some essential goods and semiconductors are now fundamental to everything,” he said, alluding to the production stoppage in China from the beginning of 2020 – due to the Covid-19 pandemic – that has blocked a number of industries “on a global scale”.
