UK PRIME Minister Gordon Brown was due to meet with his Portuguese counterpart José Sócrates yesterday (Thursday) afternoon after the signing of the Lisbon Treaty.
Gordon Brown was to arrive in Lisbon to personally sign the treaty but he was unable to attend the signing ceremony at the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos due to a parliament liaison committee meeting in the UK, which was to be held in the morning. Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, was to attend the ceremony in Gordon Brown’s place. Details about the agenda of the private meeting between the two Prime Ministers have not been revealed.
